LOS ANGELES – Conservatives in the United States Monday asked supporters to start a FaxBlast campaign to ask the U.S. Congress to block President Barack Obama’s latest amnesty program for Syrian refugees.

U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson has re-designated Syria for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and extended the existing TPS designation for the country from Oct. 1, 2016, through March 31, 2018, the Department of Homeland Security announced Monday.

This allows eligible nationals of Syria (or persons without nationality who last habitually resided in Syria) to register or re-register for TPS in accordance with the Federal Register notice published Monday.

Syrian nationals and persons without nationality who last habitually resided in Syria, who have continuously resided in the United States since Aug. 1, 2016, and been continuously physically present in the United States since Oct. 1, 2016.

Current beneficiaries under Syria’s TPS designation seeking to extend their TPS status must re-register during a 60-day period that runs from Aug. 1, 2016, through Sept. 30, 2016. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) encourages beneficiaries to re-register as soon as possible.

The 18-month extension also allows TPS re-registrants to apply for a new Employment Authorization Document (EAD). Eligible Syria TPS beneficiaries who re-register during the 60-day period and request a new EAD will receive one with an expiration date of March 31, 2018.

The Conservative Daily said the Department of Homeland Security just issued the announcement. With a single executive action, the number of Syrian refugees being admitted this year nearly doubled.

“We are witnessing what is happening in Europe. We are seeing the devastation and the crime that is undoubtedly correlated to the influx of un-vetted refugees. We saw Syrian refugees slit the throat of a Catholic Priest in France while he was saying Mass,” the Conservative Daily said.

It said that this new batch of 8,000 wasn’t vetted further. They weren’t subjected to extra interviews. For those here illegally, they pose the biggest threat of all.

According to the Conservative Daily, these people weren’t subjected to additional interviews to extend their visas for another 18 months, regardless of their immigration status.

“Here’s the major issue. The Obama administration just said that it will not deport Syrians who are living in the country illegally. They just broadcast to the whole world that if you are a Syrian, or pretend to be Syrian, you will not be turned away. DHS just suspended our immigration laws for Syrians,” said the Conservative Daily.

“There is no doubt that more Syrians in the country illegally will come forward and demand this amnesty in the coming days and Obama will be more than happy to oblige. More Syrians and Middle Easterners will cross our Southern Border,” the Conservative Daily noted.
